Ah yes, the Middle Way. The ancient art of not flinging yourself into every passing hurricane, nor napping through the storm entirely.
In this monastery, we call it the sacred art of Not Losing Your Shit. Neither high on praise nor sunk in blame, just walking steady with dusty sandals and a grin.
A fine teaching, friend. The extremes will sell you drama. The middle will give you peace.
Throughout my 63 years, over and over again, I’ve noticed that when I try to push something I fail but when I let it come and I accept it then the outcome has been mostly positive(at least neutral). I’ve also realized that it’s not the same for everyone. I still keep pushing on certain things but so far to no avail.
Timeless wisdom. More needed than ever in an age where the thirst for edginess and manichean judgementalism push us ever closer to the edge of the abyss. Thank you for this clarifying piece.
Such a beautiful, vital reminder for this thing called LIFE. Thank you for your Sovereign Spiritual Service.
My Beloved has always embodied abd expressed this Buddhist sentiments- this middle way - those 'est' or 'st' endings. And that so many chase happiest, most-est, etc. Whereas His philosophy and path is to maintain an is-ness... Happy, don't have to be happiest because that discounts all the happy. Life will ebb and flow... the middle is the sweet spot.
And when I find myself flailing in the water, my mind or emotions flowomg toward one side or the other, as the feminine tends to...He beckons me to Him, my center, not with extreme, but with steady guidance.
We spent a few months in Thailand last year. Have you been?
Thank you so much for sharing this. It’s such a powerful reminder that joy doesn't need to be superlative to be real, and that peace often lives in the quiet center, not at the peaks or valleys.
Yes, I have been to Thailand. Beautiful place that captures the extremes of life

Sometimes persistence pays off, and other times, surrendering brings peace or clarity. It’s a delicate balance, isn’t it? :)

Balance...Everything in Temperance
Yes, Vivienne. True balance is not holding still, but being held by the Divine in motion.
We often feel the imbalance, but don't always do something about it.
When things feel misaligned, we must return to the middle.
Indeed, Jimmy :) Thank you for reading
